Sewing Projects

Hi Sewing Friends:

I have so many sewing project ideas I want to share.  I can’t write fast enough.  There are a lot of sewing projects already on the net scattered here and there.  Some are pretty cool, but, they aren’t always easy to find.

I think I have decided the main focus of this sewing blog site is to primarily put together as many my favorite sewing projects that I can find, on the net and my own original sewing projects, so that you have one convenient central place to find them and don’t have to search all over the place.  It would be a “Directory of Sewing Projects” with different categories.

If they are composed by someone else, I might add tips and comments to some of them to help make the project even better if possible.  Of course, I absolutely will give credit to the originator/author.

I hope not to have duplicate projects.  However, many of the sewing projects, like “tote bags” seem duplicated, but they may use different techniques to sew a tote bag, so I will probably include them.

Let me know what you think this sewing site should be about.  What do you think of this idea. Enter your comments/suggestions below.

If you have a sewing project that you would like to submit, please let me know that, too.  If you feel you can’t write it well enough, let me know and I’ll try to help.  Your feedback is always welcome.  This site is to help you.

Please be sure that if you do send a sewing project, please include the name of the person or company that originated it, so we can give them credit.

To Your Sewing Success

Sewing Machines: Tips To Help Use Or Choose A Sewing Machine

Sewing Machines

The most frequently asked questions that I get involve using or choosing a sewing machine.  Here are some helpful tips that I hope you can use.

Read Your Manual

One of the easiest ways to get the most out of your sewing machine as well as avoid common problems is to read the sewing machine manual whenever you get a new machine. Keep your sewing machine manual handy for reference.

Protect your manual and other important sewing machine papers or documents by putting them in a plastic zip bag or envelope so they don’t get lost.  Write the date and place of purchase on your manual along with the model number, etc. in case you ever need it.

Practice new stitches and techniques. Keep a notebook with the sample stitches and machine settings for each.  Put this in the bag/envelope with the sewing machine manual.

Carefully read and follow the instructions in the section on care and maintenance.
