Hi Sewing Friends:

I know I’m always preaching about fitting pants.  It is because it is so difficult to determine how to fit pants. I love to wear pants and personally spent a small fortune trying to get a good fit. 

Many of you want to see photos of pants after the Common Sense Fitting Method was applied.  So, I am going to give you a link to some before and after photos to show you an example of an unbalanced body. 

This lady went to a very expensive seminar and was told that she had a good fit (Photo 1) and if she wanted more, she could go home and “tweak it”!  Don’t you just love that? 

The pants fit around her, but the center and side seams weren’t in the right place on her body and she was uncomfortable when she walked or sat.  Her right front pant pleat would never lay right.  It pulled open all the time.

She asked the instructor about this and mentioned that she felt she had a high hip.  Oh yes, the fitting expert said, if you have a problem, add about a 1/2 inch - that’s about normal to solve “IT”. 

Add ABOUT a 1/2 inch?  Where?  How?  Don’t you hate guessing games?  Why can’t someone tell me exactly how much I need and where I need it and how do I add it or subtract it?  And, by the way, what exactly is “IT”?

Well, that’s what I experienced more than once and that’s what drove me to create my own pants fitting method.

Yes, I am that lady and that was a number of years ago.  I dug around my old photos and found two that I posted on the link below to show you what my pants looked like before and after “Common Sense Fitting”.  Granted, some things have shifted and increased more with age, but basically, I still have the same alterations to get a good fit and feel comfortable in my pants.
