Sewing Your Own Clothes Is Back In Style

Sewing

Hi Sewing Friends:

Sewing is coming back in style.  More and more younger people are thinking that sewing your own clothes is now “cool”.

Of course, the TV reality shows featuring home dec “design it yourself” and high fashion design shows like “Project Runway” have a lot to do with it.   But, hey, whatever it takes, I am happy to hear it.

Big name magazines are writing articles about this renewed interest in sewing.

Can you believe that “Sewing Salons” are popping up around the country?
Sewing Clubs have been in existence for a long time, but now they are trying to make them look more up-to-date and not just for the older “Sewing Circle” crowd.

The sewing salons offer sewing classes and a place to meet and sew and express your creativity even if you don’t have your own sewing machine.  This really isn’t a new idea, but the younger people think it is.

Sew A New Ironing Board Cover

Sewing Projects

Sewing Friends:

Do your ironing board covers look pretty bad?

I really make a mess of mine in a short time.

I checked ironing board covers out in the stores, but they are either flimsy fabric or those “coated” covers.  And the thin foam pads that they put with them are even worse.  Yuk!

They don’t work well for construction pressing that we do in our sewing nor do they even work well for our weekly household ironing that some of us still do.

The best ironing board covers and pads are the ones you make yourself.

It really is very quick and easy to do and will give you much better ironing and pressing results.
