Sewing Tip - Create Extra Center Notches For Easy Matching
Sewing Tip
Hi Sewing Friends:ÂÂ
Here is a sewing tip that will help you match up all your sewing pattern pieces faster and more accurately as you sew your garment.
You will be surprised how easy it is to do this. It will become a habit after a while.ÂÂ
Center Notches
Always add a good sized notch to anything you cut on the fold of the fabric. By angling the scissors to begin cutting at the fold, you are cutting half a notch that automatically creates a center notch when you open the piece out flat.
By creating this notch, you don’t have to search for the center of the piece later on in construction.  This makes it easier and faster to line pattern pieces up.
Also add a large notch at the dot on the sleeve cap that marks where it is to be joined to the shoulder seam. This really helps when setting your sleeves.
Try it! It just makes sense!
To Your Sewing Success,
Marian
