Sewing Friends:

I am always amazed at how many people there are who have been sewing a long time and yet, they do not understand how to straighten fabric grain or why it is important.

Perhaps this sewing video and the links provided in this post will help.

I hope you are enjoying all the sewing videos we are finding for you.  I think they help you to understand some of the terminology and processes that are necessary to help you achieve sewing success.

To help eliminate sewing problems and what you might think are fitting issues, you really should straighen the grain on your fabrics before you cut them out.

I also prefer to preshrink everything I possibly can.  That includes zippers and interfacings.

It really pays to take these extra steps to sew a quality garment.

There are a number of nice sewing books about how to handle fabrics and prepare them for sewing.  Just click on any of the Amazon links below.  They will take you to Amazon.com where you can browse and see what appeals to you.

Hope this helps you to understand how to straighten grain on fabrics.

It just makes sense to preshrink and straighten the grain of your fabric to help you achieve sewing success.

Marian
