Sewing Projects - Pillows and Quillows
Sewing Friends:
Pillows! Pillows!  And even some quillows! We never seem to get enough pillows.    There is probably a pillow for every event we celebrate like losing our first tooth, getting married, our babies, pillows for our pets, etc.
We make pillows to sleep on, to decorate our homes, to give as gifts and we even make pillows for health reasons.
I have heard of buckwheat pillows and rice pillows, but this was a new one for me.Â
Have you heard of a Green Tea Pillow? I just read about a 15 x 25 inch  ”Green Tea Pillow” that sells for about $60. I imagine you could make your own green tea pillow for much less than that. Use your standard pillow making techniques, some 100% firmly woven cotton fabric, fill it with green tea and you have it . . .a super-sized tea bag to lay your head on and soothe away your cares.
You will find a long list of pillow making resources on my Squidoo lens about sewing pillows. Also, search my blogs, Sewing Success Sewing Blog and Sewing Project Tips Sewing Blog for a number of posts offering free information and tips for sewing pillows. Â
For even more pillow links, go to Sew Comfy Pillows for a long list of online pillow making instructions that are available for you to sew using a variety of sewing techniques.
If you have a bad back like I do, you will really appreciate the BeSewStylish back friendly pillow by Jennifer Sauer. This is really a great idea to keep the back pillow where you want it. Sew these back friendly pillows out of some fabric scraps and feel better. Â
Sew more pillows to decorate your home or to make someone happy. Everyone needs and loves pillows of some sort.Â
I just made a soft and cuddly fleece Quillow (a combination quilt and pillow) for my 13 year old grandson for Christmas. He loves to wrap a blanket around him when he gets up in the morning. His old one is pretty shabby so I hope he likes the new one.Â
Quillows are easy to sew out of some fun fleece. There are several links with instructions to make your own quillows. If you want to make a quillow out of cotton fabrics, see these quillow instructions. Give someone a hug with a quillow.
Try it! It just makes sense!
