 Anytime you need a last minute gift, here is my favorite idea for you.  This suggestion is not only good for gift ideas, but for church bazaar items as well.  It doesn’t take much time, talent or fabric to make some really beautiful and very much  appreciated gifts.

The item is table runners.  Sew them in all sizes.  Change the shape.  Express your creativity. You are the designer!  Have fun!

 I love quick and easy table runners.  I made a few for my family this year.  They are a unique hostess gift or family gift item to give any time of year.  Use some unique fabric and trim. 

Think about making a table runner using fabric representing your favorite sports team.  This is great at Super Bowl parties, too.

Sew a table runner for each holiday of the year or birthday.  They are fun, quick and easy to sew.

With a little fabric and a little time, you are sure to make a hit with your table runner. 

Ann suggests cutting the runner 10 by 61 inches.  But, you can make it any size you want.  Shorter table runners are fine, too.  If you have some 45 inch wide fabric and cut across the grain for a table runner that long, you only need about a quarter of a yard of fabric. 

These are fun to make in holiday or novelty print fabrics.

Instead of hemming the edges, serge with some decorative threads.  Or, don’t sew them at all.  Just use some fusible web tape to fuse the hems or press the hems up to the right side and fuse some trim or ribbon on to cover the raw edges.  It couldn’t be easier than that.

 Of course, you can sew luxurious table runners from some home dec fabrics.  These fabrics usually run 54 to 60 inches wide.  Watch for sales and scoop up some fabrics for next year’s gifts or for the new bride or home owner.  Make them reversible with coordinating or contrasting fabrics.
